Welcome Duncan Ralph!

Duncan Ralph has just joined as a postdoc in our group. Duncan came to us from MIT, where he got his PhD working on the Large Hadron Collider experiment at CERN in Switzerland. For that work, he improved statistical analysis of the large-scale data coming out of that experiment. With us he will also be working on statistical analysis of large-scale data, but this time it’s sequencing data of B cell receptors.

The photo to the right gives you a pretty good idea of what it’s like sharing an office with Duncan. He spends his time focused at work with his hood up, and occasionally making coffee. When not at work, Duncan likes being in the mountains.

Duncan’s brother is the brilliant Peter Ralph, a friend of mine from UC Berkeley. It’s already a real pleasure working with Duncan, and I’m looking forward to seeing him transition into becoming a first-class computational biologist.
